The Yorkshire Regiment Association

Purpose

To promote a spirit of comradeship and pride in the traditions of the Regiment and its antecedent regiments, between all past and present members.

Membership

Any member of the Yorkshire Regiment and the antecedent regiments, including Army Reserve and Cadet personnel who were in previously affiliated units e.g. The Yorkshire Volunteers, is by definition a member as of right.  Associate membership is open to all wives, partners, widows and Friends of the Regiment.

There are many members of all three antecedent regimental associations who belong to other ex-servicemens’ organisations e.g. The Royal British Legion, Normandy Veterans, BLESMA, etc. There is no reason why an individual cannot belong to their current association as well as The Yorkshire Regiment Association. In the years to come, when there are sufficient members in a town or area, they could join together as a branch.  In the meantime there will be one, central branch maintained by RHQ in York.

An Annual General Meeting of the Association usually takes place in the first week of March each year.  The Secretary will send out a Calling Notice six weeks in advance.

Membership

Ordinary Members - Membership is open to all past and serving members of the Regiment.

Honorary Members - Individual, not otherwise eligible as above, may be proposed for membership of the Association. See the constitution for more details.

Family Members - A Member's spouse, widow, or immediate family aged 18 or over shall be entitled to attend annual functions as though they were a member (no voting rights).

Membership is open to all Regular and TA Units of The Yorkshire Regiment and their antecedent Regiments (including The York and Lancaster Regiment) and all Cadet Detachments who wear the cap badge of The Yorkshire Regiment. Family membership is open to all wives, partners, widows and friends of the Regiment. For information about the rules and regulations, please read the Constitution.
