Sheffield Cutlers Recognise Yorkshire’s Finest

In the grand setting of the fabulous 17th century Cutlers Hall in #Sheffield, The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire have recognised the achievements of members of The Yorkshire Regiment and regional Army Cadets UK, marking the commencement of a long-term friendship and affiliation between the Cutlers and the only county-named regiment left in the British Army. The awards were made in front of fellow Cutlers, Commanding Officers, families and friends by Master Cutler Dame Julie Kenny DBE DL, only the second Lady Master Cutler in the long and distinguished history of the Cutlers’ Company.
Receiving these inaugural awards were #Huddersfield’s Lance Corporal Joe Straszynski from the 1st Battalion based in #Catterick, nominated for his performance as an instructor in Nigeria. From the 2nd Battalion now based in Chester, Corporal Viliame Tuimoala was recognised for rescuing an unconscious colleague from the sea when the battalion was in British Bases Cyprus. From the 4th Battalion, Pte Jason Lingard from #Barnsley was recognised for his efforts in Burma Company’s Company’s Recruit Retention Mentoring Team (RRMT). And one of our cap-badged Official Humberside & South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force, Cadet Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Emily Bone was recognised for leadership shown in her capacity as the senior cadet in her company.
