Here’s a short summary of our partcipation in the Coronation:
On parade will be 3 officers and 24 soldiers representing all three Royal Yorkshire Regiment infantry battalions, led by Major Tom Rylands of 1 YORKS.
The Yorkshire contingent includes a Colour Party from all three battalions, each bearing the Kings Colour.
Parading alongside his fellow Colonels’ of the Army’s Regiments, is Colonel of The Yorkshire Regiment, Major General Zac Stenning OBE, who is the Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Gen Lord Houghton (ex-R YORKS) will carry the Sword of Temporal Justice in the Kings Procession.
Brig Andrew Jackson (ex R YORKS), Governor of the Tower of London will be in attendance as well as Yeoman Warder Dan Benson and Chelea Hospital’s Pat Callaghan
At the head of the British Army Infantry contingent is Yorkshire Regiment’s Warrant Officer 1st Class Mark Lightowlers, recently selected from across all the Infantry regiments to be the Infantry Command Sergeant Major, and the second Yorkshire Regiment infanteer in succession to be appointed into this prestigious post.
